Three Ethiopians appeared before aGulity-pic (1) Bomet court on Wednesday to face charges of being in the country illegally.

A fourth one also faced a separate charge of harbouring the trio.

Messrs Lawde Majoj, Hayul Demeke and Terefe Elias were jointly charged that on January 3, along the Bomet-Narok highway they were found in Kenya without a permit.

They appeared before Bomet resident magistrate Mr Gedeon Kiage but did not take plea as they could not speak or understand either Kiswahili or English.

They were in the meantime remanded at the local GK prison until January 8 when their case will be mentioned.

The court has meanwhile made a request to the Judiciary for an Amharic interpreter to assist it when the case resumes.

In the same court, another Ethiopian who was in company of the accused but with valid documents, was charged with harbouring the trio.

Mr Hassan Awol was charged that on January 3, he harboured the accused persons knowing all too well that they were in the country illegally.

Mr Awol case was also deferred to January 8 as the court awaited an Amharic interpreter.
