Virginia leads the Conflict, Security and Development Programme, the IISS’ key repository of analytical work related to traditional conflicts as well as fragility and insecurity in their multiple forms. She contributes to IISS research, represents the Institute at conferences internationally and in the media, and delivers briefings to government and corporate audiences on security and development trends pertinent to, primarily, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and parts of South Asia.
