The President of the Republic of Somaliland, today, February 2, participated in a well-orchestrated anniversary of the Somaliland armed forces celebrating their 21st year of exemplary service.
At the ceremony, the President wished the ranks of the armed forces and their families splendid health and prosperity.
President Siilaanyo also spoke highly of their achievements and illustrious services that the military held for the country, highlighting their primary role of protecting the nascent nation from outside aggression.
“The nation acknowledges your worth. We the government do. That is the highest accolade any one can accept, and that is we, together, offer you wholeheartedly and without reservation,” the President said.
The Somaliland Minister for Defense, H.E. Ahmed Haj Ali Adami, and the Commander of the Somaliland Armed Forces, Major General Ismail Shaqalle, also, spoke at the occasion underlining the monumental responsibilities that the military shouldered, and how well the military forces executed their duties.
As the occasion coincided with the graduation of the second batch of officers graduating from Dararweine Officers’ Academy, the President awarded the successful graduates their certificates of graduation.
President Siilaanyo cut the ribbon on a number of projects completed at the company to mark the occasion.
Along with the President, the Somaliland House Speaker of Parliament – the Chairman of Waddani political Party, Abdirahman Irro, the deputy Chairman of the ruling Party, Mohamed Kahin, the Somaliland Minister for the Presidency, Hersi A Haj Hassan, the Commander of the Somaliland Forces, Abdullahi Fadal Iman and a number of other high-ranking officials.
