Police find body parts at house in search for missing teenager Becky Watts

Body parts have been discovered by police in the search for missing teen Becky Watts, Avon and Somerset Police has said.

It said body parts were discovered in a house in Bristol in a media briefing after announcing a “significant development” in the investigation.

“As a result of new information received late last night, we attended a house at Barton Court in the Barton Hill area,” Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour said in a press conference at 10am this morning.“The information suggested that Becky’s body had been cut up and a search at the new location resulted in the discovery of body parts.”

He said formal identification had not taken place, but Becky’s family has been informed.

Rebecca, known as Becky, went missing on 19 February from her home in the St George area of the city.

The 16-year-old left with her phone, laptop and tablet computer but did not inform friends or family where she was going, or take extra clothes.

Police and members of the public have conducted extensive searches for the teen since her disappearance.

We will continue to offer every support we can to them during this terrible ordeal.”

Becky’s father with supporters sticking appeal posters around BristolA 28-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of kidnapping the teenager. They were further arrested yesterday on suspicion of her murder.

A further three men and two women have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, bringing the total number of people in custody at seven.
