Residents of Afgooye town have decried alleged harassment by government forces that erected road blocks and checkpoints along the road leading to the town.
Speaking to the local media, drivers of public services vehicles said the forces engage in inhuman activities such as robbing travelers as well as raping women passengers. They have expressed fears of travelling along the route saying the matter has raised the cost of leaving in the town as it has become costly to operate in the area.
Other than robbery, the forces are said to levy hefty charges on vehicles plying the route.
The association of Transporters in Lower Shabelle region called on the Federal government to intervene in the mayhem that is being caused by the forces donning the National military uniform along the Afgooye – Walanweyn road. –
