The government of the Republic of Somaliland has refuted in the strongest terms false media reports carried in a section of the local media which falsely alleged the recent Multi-client master co-operation agreement entered on the 7th, September 2015 between Spectrum ASA and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia covered territorial and maritime boundaries in a press statement released by Somaliland Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources spokesperson.

Unlike what the false media reports stated the agreement allows Spectrum to acquire approximately 28,000 km of long offset 2D seismic data offshore south Somalia. The new acquisition has been specifically designed to complement 20,000 km of existing seismic that was acquired in 2014. Spectrum has also been granted the marketing rights for this data.
