Somaliland: State to Establish an Anti-Illegal Migration Police Unit

This are among Somaliland yuths who lost lives in the pursuit of illegal immigrationThe Vice president of the Republic of Somaliland  Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismail ‘Sayli’ has expressed that his government shall establish special police unit against illegal immigration of Somaliland’s youth to European countries so as to reduce the death of youth in the Mediterranean Sea.

Nearly 380 African and Asian illegal migrants have lost their lives in the Mediterranean waters after their boat sank between Egypt and Greece where only 23 were rescued in this accident.

At least more than 100 Somaliland citizens were among the deceased and the incident brought about a public outcry grievances’ from the ordinary people in Somaliland.

It’s heart rendering really. We also sent condolence to the families, relatives and friends of those who lost their lives in the sea tragedy.”

The Vice president insisted that “illegal immigration is an international issue and many other African countries are also facing same problem” adding that “My government shall take urgent steps concerning these matters.”
