A man was transported to a hospital Tuesday night after suffering burns while setting a fire outside the Trump International Hotel, authorities said.
Around 9:20 p.m. ET the man received serious but non-life threatening burns during a protest outside the hotel, D.C. Fire officials said.
It was unclear whether the man was trying to set himself on fire, or what his motivation was, although some Twitter users said the man was trying to harm himself.

Earlier Tuesday night, protesters tied up rush-hour traffic in downtown Washington before holding an anti-Trump rally outside the luxury hotel, which is located in the old U.S. Post Office Pavilion on Pennsylvania Avenue between the U.S. Capitol and the White House.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators are expected to flood the capital for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday.
At least 26 protest groups are seeking or have been granted permits — more than four times the average number for past inaugurations.

In total, nearly 400,000 demonstrators were anticipated, according to National Park Service records, with more than half of those expected to participate in the Women’s March on Washington, a coalition of civil and human rights advocates, scheduled to parade through the District on Saturday.
