Fozia Hasan Khalif lost her life in the hands of a man with whom she had a love affair going for a while.

Reports from Dhoobley of Jubbaland Fozia, a non-commissioned army officer in Jubbaland, was killed by another soldier who had a soft spot for her which she encouraged for some time in the past.

For reasons only known to themselves, Fozia repulsed the advances of her former friend deciding to end the affair.

Some of the reports indicate that the deceased told her friend that it was better that they put serious talk of love and marriage aside until the on-going operation against Al Shabaab of which they were part of was concluded. Her partner interpreted her reluctance to outright rejection and shot her dead.

The killer was disarmed and taken in in custody awaiting a military court hearing.

The President of the Jubaland Federal State of Somalia, Ahmed Madobe, is presently heading an ongoing military operation in the Jubas to ‘rout out Al Shabaab for good’ from areas under his leadership.

Al Shabaab Islamist fighters are said to be relatively well entrenched in Central Juba and Gedo regions of Jubaland, areas that Ahmed Madobe’s army, partially supported by the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) and the Somalia Nationally army, specifically target.
