The Commander-in-Chief of the Police forces of the Republic of Somaliland, Brigadier General ABDULLAHI Fadal Iman, disclosed that an immigration officer who wounded, on Monday, the commander of the Qudhac Dheer Police Precinct commander captured.

The Commander, talking to the press late last evening stated that Major Yussuf Osman Ali “Daanyeero” of the Somaliland immigration department shot and wounded Captain Abdi keyd, Commander of the Qudhac-Dheer police station, and another officer at around 1:30 a.m. on March 6. The incident happened, he said at the vicinity of 8th gas station in the Alamadaha area neighborhood.

General Fadal said the culprit escaped the area but was apprehended on Tuesday at the border town of Wajale along with two of his sons who took part on the shooting raid.

Officers who had been wounded at the shooting are being treated at the Hargeisa Group Hospital. Neither of the injured is in a critical condition.

The Hargeisa local municipality granted the Star Group lease to build a plot of land afore-owned by the government which, apparently, angered the shooter who believed he had a right to the land more than the leasee.

Major Daanyeero has been involved in incendiary land disputes at the Masallaha area on times past.
