Somaliland police force receive a new convoy of 4WD vehicles

His Excellency the president of the Republic of Somaliland, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Siilaanyo, officially handed over 20+ 4WD Land-cruisers his government bought for the republic’s security patrolling initiatives.

The President paid an impromptu visit to the police command were the vehicles and the units that would man them were paraded for his inspection.

Brigadier General Abdullahi Fadal Iman, Chief Commander of the Somaliland police forces, profusely thanked the President for prioritizing the policing competence of the security forces.

“It is the first time in the history of successive administrations that such a large number of vehicles are handed over to the force at one occasion,” the Commander said.

General Fadal went on to say that the vehicles would be distributed to the different mechanized divisions of the force such as the RRU, street patrolling units, and the SPU.

His Excellency the President also inspected the progress of a new command building whose construction is nearing completion at the old police command premises.

“This building is going to replace the old one that the British built for the Somaliland police in 1936,” Commander reported to the president.

His Excellency the Minister of the Presidency, Mohamoud Hashi Abdi, assured the police forces and the public that, despite rumors to the contrary, almost all charges against people accused of child-trafficking and sorcery had been dropped for lack of evidence.

“We assure our people that child-abduction and witchcraft scares had all been found baseless and unsupported,” he said.Image may contain: 1 personOf 19 cases investigated, not a single one went through, he said, revealing bizarre and comic outcomes of some of the cases investigated.

The President speaking on the occasion urged the people of Somaliland to closely work with the police and other security forces to ensure that the country’s stability is maintained.

“My administration will continue to give top priority to security matters, and, accordingly, I call on all Somalilanders to fully and unreservedly cooperate with the police forces on all matters pertaining to effective policing,” he said.
