The UK embassy in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital has confirmed new revelations that the current parliament speaker Hon. Abdirahman Irro submitted a letter protesting the support that the UK provides to Somaliland paramilitary police known as RRU.unnamedMs. Lizzie Lovett, a senior diplomat at the UK embassy in Addis Ababa has said that the opposition Wadani party is responsible for sending the letter against their stance when it comes to the backing of UK to RRU police in Somaliland.

She promised to the parliament speaker that the UK embassy will conduct an investigation into the allegations that opposition raises their concerns over the task of Rapid Response Unit.

Ms. Lizzie Lovett has confirmed that the UK and Somaliland entered into an agreement that the RRU will not be taken advantage by the government so that it will harass its people or the opposition political parties.

She has welcomed the announcement made by the National Election Commission confirming that polls will be held in a matter of a year.

She called on the stakeholders be it the three political parties and the house of Elders not to take the wrong direction.

The announcement is a nail in the coffin when it comes to Wadani opposition leader and the current speaker of the parliament who refuted media reports that his party is behind the submission of the case against the RRU to the UK government.

President Ahmed Silanyo of Somaliland who addressed  the parliament accused the opposition of submitting allegations against the RRU, and this latest revelation confirms on-going subversions against the Somaliland police forces and the rull of law, in general.
