Abdimalik Muse Coldoon, a controversial Somaliland journalist who travelled to Mogadishu to support Somalia’s newly elected President, has been arrested upon returning to Somaliland.
While in Mogadishu, Coldoon campaigned against Somaliland’s sovereignty, and met with Somalia’s new President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. Coldoon also promised to spread his ideology upon returning to Somaliland.
According to sources, Coldoon was arrested by Somaliland Immigration officers at Egal International Airport.
No word on charges yet, but sources are reporting that Coldoon is expected to be to charged with treason.
Many Somalilanders on social media applauded Somaliland’s government for arresting Coldoon and have called on Somaliland’s judiciary to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law.
