A Somali police(man) has fired shotgun pellets at dozens of mourners on board (a bus) heading to graveyard in Somalia capital Mogadishu.

The mourners were carrying a man’s body to a graveyard, when a soldier sprayed bullets at mourners on board in the capital, a witness said.

He says a man identified as Ahmed Nour Hassan was critically injured in the shooting and died in a hospital in Mogadishu.

The victim was later taken into criminal investigation department for further investigation.

“We are preparing for burial”, relatives said.

The soldier, who carried out the dreadful killing, has escaped from the crime scene.

Somali security soldiers arrived at the area and launched an operation to hunt down the soldier, who ran away.

No arrest has been reported yet.

Somalia has been gripped by violence and lawlessness since the toppling of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in the early 1990s.
