THE Independent Police Oversight Authority has condemned Friday’s attack on journalists by GSU police officers in Tana River county.

Speaking during a police recruitment in Bungoma town yesterday, IPOA chief executive Joel Mabonga said police should abide by the law in their conduct.

“We have not received an official complaint but since the matter is in the public domain, we will initiate our own investigations,” he said.

On Friday, reporters from NTV and Citizen TV were attacked by GSU officers manning the Tana River Agricultural Development Corporation farm.

They were attacked while seeking information on allegations that the officers had attacked herders and driven away animals grazing in their farm land.
